Social Club Piper Top

Huzzah! After months on my intentions list, I finished my Piper top from Violette Field Threads!

Or, as I like to call it, my “business in the front, party in the back” top.

This was a nice, easy top that fit on the first try (but I did make a muslin first). The pattern has a Peter Pan collar, but I was afraid that my two contrasting prints would be too busy. And, I really, really, wanted to get this done. It’s also a comfortable top to wear, and I love showing off my back tattoos.

I used two Moda fabrics for this. The Cocktail Metro dots from Eric and Julie Comstock’s Social Club line, and a green Dottie Basics.

Social Club was inspired by swing jazz and vintage cocktails. It has a 60’s feel to me, which made it so much fun to combine it with the silhouette for this top.

What would you make with this fabric?
